zombies don’t scare this guy…

PlanesWalker: Ok. First, tell us a bit about yourself if you want, what kinds of games you play, what other hobbies you have, things you enjoy doing, etc.

Robottobutoukai: I've been a gamer most of my life now. I started off with a Genesis, then upgraded to PS1. From there, I purchased my PS2, DC, GC, GBA, and DS. I'm mainly into action games, fighting games, and RPGs, but I do play the occasional Racing game. My favorite series of all time are quite numerous, and include; RE, Devil May Cry, Guilty Gear, Soul Calibur, Kingdom Hearts, MGS, DDR, Silent Hill, Final Fantasy, Melty Blood, and Parasite Eve. Yeah, I can't really keep it to one or even a few series. >_>

I can't say I'm looking forward to this generation of games. Money is pretty scarce for me right now, and I just don't think I can move onto a new system for a good, long while in my current situation. There aren't really many games I'm truly looking forward to either. DMC4 and MGS4 are about it, and two game will not sell a system to me. :/

Lately, I've been playing God Hand, Devil May Cry 3, and Project Justice.

Some of my other hobbies include being a movie fanatic and bowling. I'm actually working on creating a movie for the film club I'm in. I was on the bowling team this year, and I held an average of 161. ^__^

I'm starting up college next fall (still undecided on which college I'll end up at though), and I hope to major in History (Greek and Roman era).

That's about it.

PlanesWalker: Nice selection you got there, and college will do that to you, take away your money for games. Anyways, care to tell us about your nickname?

Robottobutoukai: My nickname? It's not all that interesting. It's just robot dance in Japanese. Its put me through hell, as only a few people spell it correctly often and it gets kind of annoying after awhile. Most people just call me Robotto for short. ^__^

PlanesWalker: Robotto is easier to remember, so how long did it take you to become this good at Resident Evil?

Robottobutoukai: How long? Oh. Yikes. Between both versions of RE4, I've beaten it somewhere near 250 times. As for my time spent on The Mercenaries, I'm not entirely sure since it has no clock for it, but I definitely know that I have to be well over 1,000 hours. As for any of the others, I never played them nearly as much as RE4. I used to just quit as soon as I had unlocked everything and messed around with the unlockables. Yeah, it wasn't until I started really playing RE4 that I really started playing games for more then entertainment. I played for high scores after I started getting serious with that. Since then, I've probably invested a good 2500+ hours of my life into it, and I don't regret a bit of it. XD

But, it doesn't take long at all to get good at the RE series. Speed runs come naturally after a couple of runs, knife runs are just a great challenge that anyone should attempt, and the minigames have always been addicting enough to me to keep me coming back. Watching a few videos of those better than me, always helped me improve my overall game. I honestly credit almost all of the improvements I've ever made to some of the great RE4 players making videos before me. Videos are the first thing that someone wanting to get better at a game should look at, right?

PlanesWalker: I completely agree with you on that. In order to become truly great at a game, you will need to see how the best do it first, and that is a lot of times you have completed the game, you must really enjoy the game, anyways getting sidetracked there so, can you tell us what your likes and dislikes about the Resident Evil games/series were? Also tell us your least favorite to most favorite of the series.

Robottobutoukai: My likes about the series is that it is extremely easy to get into. Capcom did a great job of making the game pretty easily accessible to anyone. The highlights for me are always the unlockable minigames. The gameplay is extremely addicting to me. And I really do like the storyline and characters they've been building. It's just a fun series to get into.

My dislikes are few and far between. The camera on the older games frustrates me from time to time. The ability for enemies to just keep attacking while I'm frantically trying to knife them down really upsets me on occasion. The story is kinda cliché from time to time, but I'm not complaining.

From least favorite to most would go something like: RE2, RE1, RE0, RE3: Nemesis, RE Code: Veronica, and finally RE4. This is just counting in the main series and none of the remakes/spin-offs. >_>

PlanesWalker: So, what is your favorite mode of the game, the charts you like to compete in the most?

Robottobutoukai: Without a doubt, it's The Mercenaries. I've invested so much time into it, spoken so much about it, watched so many videos about it, yet I still can have fun with it every time. Even when I'm not going for higher scores and just messing around with the lower scoring characters, it still just feels enthralling. I love it, and I love it every time I come back to it. Frustration, disappointment with mess-ups in the last few seconds, dying, none of it discourages me. I'd always come back to it. I'm currently on a long break from it, but I know it won't last that much longer. So many of my scores are getting beaten and tied, and as evidenced by this site, I really don't like getting beaten. XD

My favorite and most knowledgeable level is the Village, with Waterworld right behind it.

PlanesWalker: I am sure you will get those records back, any record that you are very proud of?

Robottobutoukai: I'd have to say my Village scores for both the PS2 and GC. My PS2 score was the world record for a short time, and I'm pretty proud of being only one bonus kill away from tying one of my idols on the GC. I'm also pretty proud of my Waterworld record. As far as I know, I'm the only American to ever even kill over 140 enemies. Lots of hard work, but it has really all been worth it. Mercs has been pretty rewarding for me.

PlanesWalker: Will we be seeing you dominate in any other games in the near future?

Robottobutoukai: Oh, I hope to be. It's just that some of them will never see the light of CS. I guess that's what the game request thread is for, eh?

I'll definitely still be playing for a good long time; it's just going to be awhile before I'm able to make the jump up to next-gen. I'll be sure to be competing in everything I can, and just making my time until I can play some of the great next-gen games coming. MGS4, DMC4, and Zone of the Enders 3 are my big three that I hope to be dominating in next-gen, and of course, RE5.

PlanesWalker: Any tips? Final Words?

Robottobutoukai: Always be open and accepting to pro tips. Watch some videos *i.e. Speed runs, high score runs, whatever.* They're all extremely beneficial. Be sure to check out some message boards. While most info will be pretty superfluous, you will occasionally run into some highly resourceful and knowledgeable people. That definitely comes in handy when you need to ask a high level playing question. And I really do have to thank some of the GameFAQs board users for where I ended up.

Well, I don't really have much to say that I haven't already. Thanks for choosing me as an interviewee.

PlanesWalker: Your Welcome, and Thank you for your time and words of experience, it is greatly appreciated. Keep on gaming.
Don’t forget guys, if there is someone out there that you would like me to hassle for an interview, just PM and let me know who they are. Just make sure they are at least in the top 3 of a certain game and don’t ask me to interview yourself….. that sounds like something I would do!!! XD
