PlanesWalker: Hey everyone, it’s PlanesWalker with another interview for you guys, this week I bring you the top player in Kururin games.
PlanesWalker: Ok. First, tell us a bit about yourself if you want, what kinds of games you play, what other hobbies you have, things you enjoy doing, etc.
TheBrain: Well, I'm a student - just finishing my degree - but I try to spend as much time playing games and as little time doing work as I possibly can. I started out gaming with some GBA games like FZMV and MKSC and I wanted to try get as good at them as possible. Eventually I found Cyberscore and have been there ever since. I still play the odd racing game - like PGR3 - but I tend to stick to rhythm/music (singstar/daigasso/guitar hero) and puzzle (kururin) games now.
PlanesWalker: I see that you have over 6000 submissions, wow, how do you manage to keep track of what game you need to improve?
TheBrain: Haha, yeh there are lots of games that I should really improve. Most of the time I stick to just one game at a time though. Then if one day I don't feel like playing it, I just pick up some other game at random and try and improve my worst score. At the moment I have been playing a lot of Guitar Hero - when people aren't beating my Kururin records!
PlanesWalker: Kururin, I see that you are at the top of all three games. How much time have you put into each of the kururin games to become this good at them?
TheBrain: Quite a lot. I haven't ever found a game as addicting as that one. Each time I complete a level there is almost always something that I spot that means I could have gone faster. I've had the GBA games for years and have been playing them on and off ever since I got them. My data even got erased once but I just started again until I had got back to where I left off. The GC one I haven't played as much as there aren't many other people who play it.
PlanesWalker: Well to everyone who's reading, The Brain is challenging you. Care to tell us the order of your least favorite to favorite, also your likes and dislikes about each kururin game.
TheBrain: I suppose the order of my favorites would be Squash, Paradise, and Kururin. Simply because Squash is a far more complicated game and takes more planning the best route. There are also enemies on the level which adds a new twist. The slightly 3d graphics makes it hard to be as accurate though. The multiplayer against Blondafro was good as well. Paradise is good because of the varied levels and the extra minigames you can play. Kururin, well, it's good because of the level of competition. It has forced me and Blondafro especially to push the game to new limits. Having new players take up the game is always good and I am happy to give pointers to get them started. I wish they would make an English version of Squash and Paradise. I am used to it now, but it was a bit difficult to follow at first. That is my only dislike for any of them really.
PlanesWalker: Is there any player out there that gives you a good go at any of the kururin games?
TheBrain: Yes there are plenty of other good players. Lemaitre and Perfectneo were the original ones that I was against I think, and then Phaz0n had a few good times. Miniboss keeps putting in some great ones every few weeks or so. BenB17 did for a while as well. Recently my main competition has been from Blondafro. I can see more and more of my records slipping away all the time on Kururin. I'm going to have to go back to the game again soon and try and take some of them back before there gets too many.
PlanesWalker: Is there any record that you are very proud of, and why?
TheBrain: I am pretty pleased with my times for the last secret level of Paradise. On both difficulties that level is pretty tough to complete, and I was lucky enough to pull off a few great runs. Non-kururin related, I'm pleased with getting all 100's for Entertainer on Daigasso. That took some doing.
PlanesWalker: Any game you enjoy playing that doesn’t involve competition?
TheBrain: Yeh! Oblivion is awesome. I played that for hours and hours when I first got it, but I haven't played it much recently. After completing all the main quests I almost lost the interest to play it, but occasionally I pick it up and have another go. I am being a wizard this time so it puts a different slant on the game.
PlanesWalker: Oblivion is an amazing game. Will we be seeing The Brain dominate in any other games in the future?
TheBrain: I am slowly getting better at Guitar Hero but I don't know if I have the dedication to master that game as much as some people have. It takes a lot of practice to get as good as the top people. I have been thinking about getting DDR Mario Mix, but I think quite a few of those charts look fairly easy to max. We need to get someone to make Kururin for the Wii! Then, I will!
PlanesWalker: Well I hope they will make one. Any tips, final words?
TheBrain: I guess taking over the world will have to wait for another night!
PlanesWalker: Thanks for your time Brain, I'll let you get back to your pondering. To the readers, if there is anyone out there that you would like to see be interviewed than just contact me and let me know, I’ll see what I can do after that.
